NACC were solicited to design and build a blast wall to surround a military barracks as part of an expansion to Camp Graneyville, a US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project. The wall was to withstand the explosive force as delivered by 25kg of TNT placed at a 10m radius. The original specification detailed the use of conventional US Military "Tracey Barrier" system with concrete panels being supported by galvanised steel columns.
Due to non-availability of suitable galvanised steel products, coupled with the lengthy time frame involved in sourcing outside of theatre, NACC engineered a precast concrete wall system in compliance with the rigid specifications. The design incorporated a self supporting panel system with male and female interlocking joints and without any columns.
