Challenge

Our client had a requirement to construct a pre-engineered steel building which was styled as a dutch barn. The structure was designed to have 39 columns with foundation depths up to 2m (6ft 7inches). Given the relative proximity of column locations and depth, pouring of in-situ foundations would take time and prove to be costly.

Solution

NACC engineered precast foundation blocks designed to include cast-in starter bars for tie into the building's super structure. With foundations being manufactured off site, our client was able to simultaneously complete all building earthworks and then excavations in order to receive blocks. These were then transported to site and installed on a level, hard compacted surface ready for the erection of steel columns.

Through the use of efficient design and performance of concurrent site activity NACC was able to assist the client in accelerating construction and maintaining their project schedule.
